Topics in African American Literature: The Evidence on Things Unseen: Art, Archives, and Harlem
Spring 2020
The cultural explosion of African Americans during the Harlem Renaissance is one that needs no introduction.Â
Howbeit, many studies conceal the significant contribution of women artists and intellectuals during that time.
This assignment explores the prominent role played by sculptor and activist, Augusta Savage, and provides an analysis of her resilience-- conveyed through the intrinsic nature of visuals alongside other supporting literary work.
